Commercial crocodile farming is a success story which is envied by the Rhino and Elephant fraternities. This well controlled and regulated industry has effectively acted as an insurance policy for wild crocodile populations since 1976.
Crocodile leather has for centuries been considered the finest of all leathers and the Nile crocodile (crocodylus niloticus) is the only crocodile species found in Southern Africa. Crocodile leather is consumed by a niche manufacturing market servicing many of the top international fashion labels for the production of small leather apparel such as shoes, belts, handbags, purses and wallets. SA is the 2nd largest exporter of Nile crocodile skins.
In addition to the crocodile breeding and export facilities the property also boasts a predator breeding program; reptile park; a fully licensed restaurant; curio shop; swimming pool; water slides and XCO MTB tracks. The property hosts social events such as local- and international guided tours; mini markets; XCO MTB races, night walks, music events and more. The property is in fact a very popular tourism, school and day visitor destination.
The property is fully game fenced according to Nature Conservation standards and game like Brindled Gnu (Blue Wildebeest); Kudu; Impala; Burchell’s Zebra and more is seen.
Crocodile breeding facilities consist of a hatchery with 3 incubator rooms, capacity to hatch 25 000 eggs per cycle; 3 hatchling hothouses (approx. 14 400 animals); a multi hothouse; 11 grower houses; a multitude of breeding ponds (approx. 30 000 animals); 4 large breeding dams that accommodate approximately 600 adult crocodiles and an office overlooking one of the large breeding dams.
The abattoir complex includes a grading room with light table; salt rooms (Cold rooms); scale; washing and de-fleecing room; slaughter room; processing room; office and ablution facilities.
Chickens are being fed to the crocodiles and are supplied by 5 chicken farms and the food are being processed on the farm through feed processing equipment and 7 large fridges for storage purposes.
The predator park and predator breeding program are fully licensed, and permits are in place for every species. Animals include Tiger, Leopard, yellow Crocodiles, Cayman, primates and more. The snake park also holds permits for all the different species and Anacondas.
Water to the farm is being sourced through 8 equipped boreholes into two large dams and 5 Jojo tanks. Water is then pumped to all facilities and dams through proper pipelines and the dams are drained regularly into effluent dams.
Accommodation consists of a 6-bedroom house; a 5-bedroom house and two 3-bedroom houses; a Staff house and a hostel.
All loose assets, vehicles and implements to carry on the successful operation of the property and activities are being included in the purchase price and the business are registered as a VAT-Vendor.
